.DLL Error

The .dll error messages appear to users when they encounter problems related to corrupt, unregistered or missing .dll files or other messages related to .dll files. These errors can easily be fixed by replacing the .dll files with a newer version of .dll and then registering the file with the Windows Registry.

What are these dll files?

DLL stands for Dynamic Linked Library and it is a collection of small programs, which can be called upon as and when required by the executable program or .exe file that is running. The .dll files let the executables communicate with a specific device such as printer or may contain source code to do particular functions.

The causes of .dll error

Your Windows operating system usually displays .dll error messages if the .dll file is corrupt or it is missing from the main directory. Here are some of the possibilities that could generate .dll error messages:

  • You have uninstalled a program, but that program along with its files has removed a .dll file that is required by some other program.
  • You have installed a program that may have overwritten the .dll file with an older version or with a version that is not compatible with the program.
  • A bad installation has occurred that caused the .dll errors.
  • Another user or program maliciously or by mistake has deleted the .dll and associated file.
  • There is a hardware issue with the computer, such as bad hard drive, causing the data on the drive to become corrupt, causing the .dll errors.

As the main cause of dll error messages is missing dll files you can resolve the problem by downloading a copy of that .dll from another computer onto your computer. However, be careful while copying this file; it should not replace any other .dll file. In that case you will get another issue of missing files.

Sometime the .dll error prevents the user from getting into Windows, to troubleshoot the computer. In that case you boot the computer into safe mode to fix the error.

If you are encountering .dll error messages while running a particular program, it is likely an issue with that program. If the program previously worked perfectly on your system, but now showing error, you only need to uninstall it and then install it again. It will almost resolve your problem. Thankfully, resolving a program specific .dll error is easier that an operating system specific .dll error. If the .dll error message is operating system related, you might require reinstalling your OS.

Clean Registry to avoid .dll error messages

The .dll file is registered with the Windows Registry. But as you use Windows more and more, this registry becomes jumbled and fragmented. Your PC starts performing slowly, you get abnormal errors and it seems everything is in a mess. Therefore, it is recommended you clean your system registry periodically. It will not only enhance your system's performance but also helps you avoid all such errors like .dll error, .exe error and so on.

Cleaning registry! Sounds complicated, right? And yes, it is. Editing the registry is incredibly complex, technical and extremely risky. So you need the right tool for cleaning your registry perfectly. However, it becomes really easy when you get RegCure Registry cleaner. This easy-to-use tool makes your Windows repair task risk-free. RegCure will find and repair thousands of registry errors in minutes. In addition, it repairs annoying and potentially dangerous errors like dll errors, ActiveX errors, run time errors and other Windows errors.

What is a computer virus?

Computer Viruses: What is a Computer Virus?

Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation.

A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk.

Viruses are most easily spread by attachments in e-mail messages or instant messaging messages. That is why it is essential that you never open e-mail attachments unless you know who it's from and you are expecting it.

Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files.

Viruses also spread through downloads on the Internet. They can be hidden in illicit software or other files or programs you might download.

To help avoid viruses, it's essential that you keep your computer current with the latest updates andantivirus tools, stay informed about recent threats, and that you follow a few basic rules when you surf the Internet, download files, and open attachments.

Once a virus is on your computer, its type or the method it used to get there is not as important as removing it and preventing further infection.
